Da Brat was recently released from prison and made a stomping debut on the remix for Chris Brown's "Look at me now." She has always been known for her tomboy style but when she involves into her "pretty girl" style she looks great!!!

Amy Winehouse dead at age 27!!

Soul singer Amy Winehouse was found dead in her apartment at the age of 27. She is the same age as other beloved musicians who died at the age of 27 such as Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, and Janis Joplin. She pinned such hits such as "Rehab" which was symbolic of some of the drug issues that seemed to plague her throughout her adult life. She was able to infuse soul, jazz, and rock into her powerhouse voice and recently was set to tour Europe but ended up cancelling dates due to personal issues. She will definitely be missed. So sad!!!!!

Debt Ceiling Crisis!

The August 2nd debt ceiling crisis is looming and many states and other local municipalities are scramming to search for funding just in case funding and spending take a nose dive. Are you prepared for another recession?? It seems like we haven't gotten out of the most recent one and now we are headed for a double dose. Do you believe the wealthy should be taxed at higher rates. And, if you did not know the wealthy would not be taxed any higher than in the past it is just that the Bush tax cuts lowered and sometimes eliminated taxes for those making over $250,000. Is it fair???????

Gospel winning duo, Erica and Tina Campbell of Mary Mary stopped by Good Morning America to share a clip of their new video "Survive" (which is my favorite off of their new album "Something Big") and discuss their partnership with the American Red Cross and the disaster victims across the nation. Erica Campbell also announced that she is expecting her third child with producer, hubby, Warryn Campbell. Congrats! I guess the third time is not a charm for golden girl Jennifer Lopez! Her and Marc Anthony have split after seven years of marriage (I thought 7 was a lucky number). Rumors are circulating that Marc's controlling behavior is behind the split! Either way they are both known for being able to attract beautiful mates in their lives. All I can think about is American Idol and the chemistry that they had during their performance!

I wanted to do a spotlight on the "People's Attorney," Mr. Warren Ballentine. Warren hails from Chicago, IL and his focus has been helping people all around the world to help stop the injustices that are going on in this country and abroad. Over the past two years, Warren has been very focused on education and stimulating our minds through talk radio. He has coined the phrase, "I am a Truthfighter, down with the movement for justice," and people of all races have been singing his praise. I want to salute this outstanding man for what he has been doing within our community and how he is helping to bridge the gap between the older and younger generations. Thank you Warren for all you do!

Don Imus: Racial comment or not?

Once again, shock jock Don Imus is in the news again. This time Imus has drawn fire for a race comment. During an on-air conversation Monday about the arrests of suspended Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones, Imus asked, "What color is he?" He was told by sports announcer Warner Wolf that Jones is "African-American," Imus responded: "There you go. Now we know." (via blackpoliticalthought.blogspot.com)

Do you believe that this was a racial comment or was Don Imus just stating the obvious stereotype that society has placed on black men? He came out and apologized 24 hours later??? Does he mean it? What do you think?????

Will Obama win the White House?

So, Barack Obama is now the Democratic Nominee. What does that mean???? Well for one, I would like to say I am so proud of Barack's hard work and dedication, and as a woman myself, I can't wait to see Michelle Obama catwalk her way in the White House. With that being said, do you really believe that Barack will win the White House? I believe so. Also, when (I like to speak the truth) Barack wins, will African-Americans still be considered minorities when an African-American is the leader of the free world? Just a question!
